BE AFRAID!

You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing, which you think you cannot do.
Eleanor Roosevelt

Fear is excitement without breath. – Robert Heller

Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right. – Henry Ford

Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgment that something else is more important than fear. – Redmoon

We should not let our fears hold us back from pursuing our hopes.
John F. Kennedy

Confidence comes not from always being right but from not fearing to be wrong.
Peter T. McIntyre

Fear can be your friend, or your jailer. Do not let it control you. Feel it. Accept it.Don’t ignore or suppress it.

To uncover the source of our fears is to first accept them then feel and express them. Talk yourself through the fear. Explore your emotions and question yourself about your fears. Where is the source?

Learn to appreciate your fears. Fear can teach us a lot about ourselves.

Fear might stem from a lack of preparation and/or confidence.

We can use our fears for our own betterment. Fear can make us anxious and excited.

Choose then to be excited, to accept the fear and to use it to your advantage.

Experience the sensations of fear, the anxiety, and use it to power through the fear.

Believe in yourself!

You can’t be afraid to try new things and possibly fail. Only by “Failing Forward”, will we breakthrough and learn new things about ourselves that allow us to reach new levels. Failure isn’t bad. Failure isn’t final. No matter how BIG of a failure you have to deal with, you can always RISE up and overcome it – and even become STRONGER because of it. So never, ever, EVER give up. – Craig Ballentyne

Your Time is NOW!!!

“If you don’t have time to do it right, when will you have time to do it over?” John Wooden

You can do nothing about that which has already occurred, other than learn from it, and improve yourself based on your experience.

Lets face it, you probably won’t get it right the first time. And thats ok. If at first you don’t succeed, welcome to the club. Who EVER gets it right the first time?

Success, at anything, requires resilience, persistence and perseverance.

Of course there will be set backs, road blocks, detours, speed bumps, mishaps, etc…

Will you decide to let these challenges keep you from success? The choice is yours!

The road to success is paved with obscure challenges.

There is no reward without risk.

Nothing worth achieving is ever easy.

Demand more of yourself. Raise your standards.

Do this, for nobody other than yourself.

Your time is now! You owe it to yourself to be the best YOU can be!

You are capable of so many great things. You need only to believe in the awesomeness that is your potential, then to act up on it. You are incredibly powerful and capable beyond what you can imagine.

Do right by yourself.

In the end, you may find yourself more regretful of the things you failed to do, more so than the things you actually did.

So go now, and be all that you can possibly be.

YOUR TIME IS NOW!

Yes, thats right, the M.A.R.K. Method.

One sure way to ultimate success in life!

MOTIVATION: Find the flame inside, and fuel it! Become inspired. Be focused on what drives you. Keep your eyes on the prize! Know exactly what it is you want!

ACTION: Take massive action! Work hard! It doesn’t matter if you’re talented or good at what you’re working at, just keep working. Keep moving forward. Stay active. Continue moving in the direction of your goals. No matter how small the action is, take it! One step at a time, or in giant leaps, keep moving forward.

RESULTS: Get results! Once you know what it is exactly that you want, and you start taking action on it immediately, you will produce your desired result. It may not happen over night, and in most cases it definitely won’t. But that is not to say that there is no result. Continue doing the things that will yield your desired result and success will be imminent! Know that nothing ever great was accomplished on its first try, or even the first effort! Accept the challenge! Accept the resistance! Grow strong, persevere, and be relentless! You are capable of TREMENDOUS Results!

KEEN: Get amped up! Get excited! Be enthusiastic! Be optimistic! Be intense! Your body follows your minds lead! Be ferocious! Create this in your mind with determined focus on exactly what it is you want! Continue taking action towards the direction of your goals! Be relentless and persevere! All the while, maintaining a keenness about yourself!

You can do this!

Now go get it!

“Desire is the starting point of all achievement, not a hope, not a wish, but a keen pulsating desire which transcends everything.” – Napoleon Hill

Running Does YOUR Body Good

Don’t you just love running? ME TOO!! Not only does running kick your butt, its also GOOD FOR YOU!  Running is easy, helps you lose weight, makes you stronger and can actually help you to live longer! Amazing right? See, told you I cared! =)

Running also has been shown to improve your response to vaccinations as well as improves all of your mental functions. Pretty cool right? See, run, and someday you can be as smart as me! =) maybe…

Running also triggers your body to release all the nasty toxins in your body by increasing oxygen flow! By the way, stop putting those nasty toxins in your body too. You know what I’m talking about. Don’t think I didn’t see you “drive-thru”. I did. ;)

Running relieves stress! Need I say more? Running relieves anxiety! Fresh air, cool breeze, some alone time. What could be better? Ah yes, good idea…running with me…good one…

Running also helps to prevent cancer (colon, breast, lung). Running can also help you prevent heart disease, stroke, and diabetes by lowering blood pressure. It can also help you maintain a healthy cholesterol level, and helps boost your immunity against colds and other viruses.

I can continue, but I think you’re getting the gist. Run=good. Go do it!

My goodness! Running IS good for you! And it definitely does your body good!

Now get out there and go run around the block a couple times…. =)

Hard work pays off!!!

Consistency is key! So is frequency and intensity! Continue to work hard as often as possible! Too often I experience periods of hard work followed by periods of “down time”. One week on, one week off. Doubles all week, then only a couple workouts the following week. Sound familiar?  This routinely occurs when we have huge events coming up such as Thanksgiving, a party, reunion, Christmas, wedding or vacation. We all want to look our best, right? So we go hard on ourselves with our workouts and diets just to look good for a certain occasion, or upcoming weekend, or specific outfit. Then after that event, we go right back to the normal routine of working out “because I have to” and making poor eating habits. Studies show that random bursts of vigorous exercise followed by weeks of laziness can increase fat levels and can put more strain on your cardiovascular system. Also, not only does this kind of routine ruin your breathing system, but it also wears you emotionally and psychologically.  This irregularity hinders your weight loss and adversely effects your health. Consistently working hard and eating healthy all the time, will make it easier to keep the weight off, as well help adapt this healthy routine into your normal lifestyle. And that’s what its all about, isn’t it? Healthy living all the time!

GOALS!

Goals are great! But make these goals more specific and lifestyle-oriented. For example, when someone’s goal is to lose 10lbs, they stop with the exercising and healthy diets after they reach their goal. So, shift your focus and think of all the ways you can benefit from exercise and a healthy diet as part of your on-going lifestyle.

VARIETY!

Rotate your workouts. Some people just SPIN, some just RUN, some just LIFT. But every once in a while, you’ll get bored, and end up sitting on the couch. So alternate your exercises every day, and try something new with variety! Something like bootcamp! (www.BOOTCAMPinORANGE.com)

PROGRESSION!

When you have your goal, you’re pumped! You’re so ready to get into your workout routine! But then, you work out hard the very first week, and BOOM! You’re exhausted, and can’t do a thing on the 8th day. Stay focused and keep pushing yourself! Be sure to get your rest, to stretch and do hydrate! Gradually increase your intensity! Always try your best! “Your best” is always changing, from day to day. Give each day what it deserves! You at your best! I believe in you!

And as always, remember, here at Hit The Mark Fitness, we’re here to help you maximize your potential, and bring out the greatness already inside you! USE US!

BE YOUR BEST!

Get your Zs, pleazzze!

Besides the fact that I don’t want you dragging your feet to boot camp or hearing you whine in the morning, numerous studies have shown that getting adequate sleep every night is crucial to keeping the pounds off. The less you sleep, the more you crave! In a recent study by the New York Obesity Nutrition Research Center, women ate over 300 more calories daily after sleeping just 4 hours versus when they slept a restful 8-hour night. Also, as we all know from experience (except yours truly, of course), lack of sleep results in lack of energy, which then causes lack of motivation to workout… and nobody wants to miss seeing my handsome face :) .
IF on the very infrequent and unfortunate occasion you do fail to get a full night’s rest, just make sure to eat a high-protein breakfast and pack healthy, light snacks in order to calm the cravings without visiting the vending machine or the nearby burger joint.
Remember, drink plenty of water and eat fruits, veggies and lean proteins!

Have a reMARKable day! :)

Drink to that!

Drink water!

You know you should. I know you should. We both know its good for you. So go ahead already and drink it. And if you are, good, drink more.  Your body is made up of about 70% water, replenish, refuel and rehydrate often! Especially when its hot out there! And as the weather heats up, you’ll need to hydrate even more.

As if you needed any more reason to drink water…Here are 5 super benefits to staying hydrated…

1. Maintaining your hydration reduces your risk of muscle cramping, regulates your body’s core temperature and allows you to recover faster.

2. Drinking water helps to minimize hunger cravings. Next time you think you’re hungry, drink some water first, you might find you were just thirsty.

3. Staying hydrated actually increases your metabolism, allowing you to burn more fat more efficiently and overall throughout the day. Pretty cool huh.

4. Energy! Ever feel sluggish? Chances are you feel tired, sluggish, weak and lazy because you’re dehydrated! So put down your 5 hr energy, and pick up some water! Drinking water will increase your energy levels as it allows your body the oxygen it needs.

5. Do you really need a 5th super beneficial reason to drink water? How about ’cause your mother told you to, and in honor of her, with Mothers Day so recent.

And in case you were wondering how much water you should be drinking, get out your calculators and I’ll show you….

For optimal functioning, aim for a minimum of half your body weight in ounces of water a day. Definitely doable! Now go out there and do it!

And…of course, eat your fruits and vegetables, and lean proteins and be sure to get plenty of sleep, rest and stretching!

And WORKOUT! Here is a great place to get a phenomenal workout <<<www.BOOTCAMPinORANGE.com>>>

And remember… The only person that can keep you from hitting your mark is you.”

Have an awesome day!

4 Ways to Kick Start Your Fitness Program

GET ACTIVE!

1. Surround yourself with healthy and active people: You’d be surprised, but just hanging out with healthy and active people might inspire you to be more healthy and active. Schedule some time with a friend that you can participate in some physical activities with. Hiking, gardening, basketball, etc. or whatever it is you like to do. Get out of your daily routine, mix it up and have some fun.

2.Write down 5 activities that you enjoy: Take out a sheet of paper and write down at least 5 physical activities that you enjoy. Seriously, take out a sheet of paper and do this. Don’t keep reading unless you have your paper in front of you…good. Schedule some time each week to participate in these physical activities. Every little bit counts! You never know, 10 minutes here could turn into 60 minutes later. The key is have fun and enjoy your physical activity.

3.Turn off your TV and get outside: Turn off the TV! Seriously! The average American watches about 4 hours of TV a day! That’s ridiculous! Go outside, get some fresh air, go for a walk. Do something, just don’t turn on the TV! I bet you can’t go for a week without watching TV! Seriously, are you up for the challenge? I dare you. For some of you this is not an issue, but, for some of you this is a major issue!

“If you’re watching too much television and you know it, you might find it useful to ask yourself this one question, which side of the glass do I want to live on? When you’re watching television, your watching other people do what they love doing for a living, those people are on the best side of the glass because they’re having fun and your passively watching them have fun, they’re getting money and you’re paying.”

“I find television very educational, every time someone turns it on I go in the other room to read a book”
~Groucho Marx

4.Keep a Food Journal: Really want to see how bad you’ve been eating? Keep a food journal! Track everything you put in your mouth! EVERYTHING! Do it for a week, and see what you come up with at the end of the week. Chances are if you have to write it down, you’ll end up making better choices in the first place. Just knowing you’ll be accountable for what you eat is a huge motivator for eating better. Try doing this with a friend, and you’ll be even more committed to eating better! DO IT!
